The Alto Douro Wine Region is one of Portugal’s most emblematic wine regions. Favaios is famous for its Moscatel, a sweet and aromatic wine made from the Moscatel Galego Branco grape variety. Régua (Peso da Régua) is considered the heart of the Douro and is an important centre for the production and trade of Port wine. The region’s landscape is marked by terraced vineyards, moulded by the River Douro over the centuries. In addition to the wines, the Douro’s gastronomy and hospitality make these towns unmissable destinations, being one of Portugal’s most emblematic wine regions, classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
